Toby, I appreciate the thinking in the article, but wanted to clarify one thought. If one uses the word fascism, technically this must involve the interconnections between the governments use of unlimited force combined with the direct involvement in the sphere of big business's participation in government. Otherwise it is plain ole authoritarianism. Certainly it appears that this has collusion occured in "covid crisis". But turning everything over, its it possible that it is the other way around where government(s) have participated with the initiation of pharmacuetical-medical-industrial-complex? If this is the case, this might be a new phenomenon and we would be in need a new term. And we still do not know enough about the events early on whether China sought to attack the west thru the bio weapon and vxx and said "industrial-complex" was taken in by the CCP...we just dont know yet.

Good piece!

This: "We (I) keep circling around the question of how major industrialized countries returned to fascism nearly 80 years after it was completely discredited by World War."

We've had fascism ever since WWII, here in the US, and probably elsewhere.

Throughout WWII, Fascism was rapidly becoming the de facto mode of government in the west; in the US, for example, the mobilization of the nation for WWII meant the creation of an immense administrative state that—rather than seizing and controlling industries directly—worked through a complex of board membership to achieve proxy public control. Which is technically fascism (the so-called "third way.")

This ^^ was even touted at the time as the future and ideal model of all governance; and as it was staffed by “experts” from academia, it was celebrated in universities and taught to generations of students.

But if they were to work towards fascism -- worldwide and here in the US - they had to rid "fascism" of the associations with the almost universally deplored Nazism.

So they recast Nazism—the apotheosis of leftist collectivism—as politically “far Right." And they did this through the introduction of a new political science model that became a bedrock of the field by the mid-20th century.

Meanwhile, they marched forward - politically, culturally, educationally - under the new banner of that distressingly vague term "Progressivism."

On the subtopic of *how* the fascist systems are put into place, I posted a timeline of the key US statutes from 1983 to the present, through which Congress built the public health-based police state we now live in.

https://bailiwicknews.substack.com/p/american-domestic-bioterrorism-program?s=r

Most of the worst laws have been passed since 2000 — just before 9/11 and the US Department of Defense false flag anthrax attacks. They are listed at the post, with links to the full text of each law, and a short summary of what I understand about how each one fits into the overall scheme.

I once asked a womanizer why he kept seducing women. He responded "because I can."

Whether power corrupts or the corruptible seek power, power is addictive. Narcissists and other antagonistic personalities can never get enough validation from those they seek to control. Corporations grow rapidly because of this power-lust. Some corporations achieve close to immortality, while others eventually collapse under their own bloat.

Those of us who are uninterested in personality cults may be somewhat more immune to the group-think/hysteria that has gripped the world. We never turned on daytime TV or watched 'reality shows' on the boob-tube. We didn't see the fascination with the life-styles of rock-royalty or anyone else. We never collected autographs and we refused to stand in line at Xmas to buy the latest fad. We are the minority.

Among us there are many who believe the #gaslight because they identify with the power-mongers skilled in rhetorical deceits, but among us also are the those with critical thinking skills, integrity and the courage to speak the truth.

You just described what happens when people live for their own desires, their own interests and embrace sin rather than living for God and treating others as equally important as themselves. We are to love God with all our heart, mind, soul and strength and to Love others as we love ourselves.

You lived in Colorado in the early 2000's? Any chance you know any rumours about what happened to JonBennet Ramsey?

I'm sure everything that is going to be said about that case has already been said and the only chance of a break is going to come from a match with the strangers DNA that was found on her clothes. One day that man will be arrested for something and he will be caught.

Helluva beautiful read, Toby. 🥲

It’ll take me time to digest everything you referenced, but I will enjoy going through it all and will surely learn something of value. Thanks for bringing it all to the table. Though this may be more my domain than yours, I’ll return the favor by recommending Dr. Thomas Cowan’s Human Heart, Cosmic Heart, another beautiful read.

I’m giggling about your time in Boulder and the gurus outnumbering the gas stations as I was there around the same time studying acupuncture. Met a family whose children were abused at an ashram in India. 💔 The longer I live, the less inclined I am to devote myself to any one individual for any reason, yet I suspect I still belong to some sort of low-key cult even if a relatively harmless one… 🤔

“I am working from the premise that God is love and the robber barons seek to be gods — so they want to eliminate their rival. But that’s why we’re going to win, because love is the only immutable force in the universe.” When my mother was dying, crossing over and coming back, she kept telling me that love was the dominant force in the universe. I believe it. And I like your interpretation of One better than Bono’s. Love is a lot like Kintsugi pottery which I’m rather fond of. ❤️

Another excellent article, Toby! I read Crawford's article Sunday and really enjoyed it. An astute analysis of what is going on around us. My favorite line was about the etiology of fascism being "rather a primitive base instinct". I can't wait to click through the links you've included. Sometimes I wish I were one of those loser, grifters, sucking at the tit of government so I had more time to sit around and read all the brilliant substack's I subscribe to. Thanks again for your work!

Guess which other Nazi are still in power ... Psst, it's the one supporting the Nazis.

Over the years I've read several definitions of and histories of "fascism," most recently Robert Paxton's book. Fwiw, I refused to read Madeleine Albright's book on fascism, well, because she WAS one and I doubt that she was capable of confessing it. I've been thinking about your Substack today and am wondering: how do you define 'fascism'? What particular qualities does modern day fascism have with previous forms? Is is simply just power that nothing else is capable of checking? Is it a trait of the upper and affluent middle classes? Thanks, btw, for your piece today. Our library managed to find a copy of "The Apprentice's Sorcerer" for me, I'm intrigued by the idea that it's inherent in liberalism.

Absolutely fascinating read. I became further disillusioned by three of your reveals: BMW, Mother Theresa, and Bono.

"Fascism then is not an elaborate ideological construct, but rather a primitive base instinct that is only held in check so long as power is defuse." [Should that read diffuse?]

Your pithy thought explains why the "dark side of human nature" re-emerged in grievous collateral damage the past two years: neighbours no longer talking, families torn apart, civil freedoms & economy trampled, loneliness and isolation, widespread fear and anxiety - to name a few.

The proverb that sprung to mind when I read that line was, "For lack of knowledge, my people perish." In particular, the ignorance in today's society of both history and the human potential for evil makes it hard to share the truth about Gates, Trudeau, WEF, and Pharma fascism because the spirit of the age has idolized Pharma, and people are "naively safe" in their scoffing response that it will never come to that here. "That" being the inhumane plans of the Reset cabal.

A soft, involuntary sob escaped when I got to "God is love....[and] that’s why we’re going to win, because love is the only immutable force in the universe." The heaviness in my spirit lifted with that real and persevering hope.

Now, I'm left with what to do about my retirement pride and joy, my 135 I Series metallic light blue BMW convertible....Knowledge can be so painful. 🙆🏼‍♀️
