I will argue that the root of the crisis we are experiencing stems from a ruling class mentality dominated by model that predicts a massive global catastrophe, due to the Sun. This will occur very shortly within the next 40-80 years, and no amount of prepping an underground civilization, will make a difference. So this descent into madness is an all too predictable regression to the mean. We’ve been through this before, many times.
The most obvious example of exploitation was creating market for the pharmaceutical industry by forcing the working class to take the shots and then making the government allocate trillions to the pharmaceutical industry pay for it!
My family would be considerably more wealthy than we are currently if my husband had never been trapped inside the medical industrial complex. It has nearly destroyed our lives on multiple occasions and in multiple areas. Every time we have to go to a medical facility with him, I physically feel ill to my stomach because I know what kind of situation we are walking into.
As much as I want to put the sole blame on the medical industry, I try to remember that when my husband and I first got married, he informed me that he didn’t eat vegetables. Turns out he didn’t eat hardly any healthy food at all, to the extreme. Before we got married, I thought he didn’t eat well because he was single and worked full time and just didn’t have time for real food. I didn’t realize that he actually refused to eat real food. It immediately became a source of contention between us for a variety of reasons, and for many years.
After his second major diagnosis of a life threatening disease, he finally decided to make changes to his diet and lifestyle. (He is an amazing person btw, just wasn’t ever taught to take care of his health as a child and didn’t think it was important as a young adult)
He’s doing the best he can moving forward but his life will undoubtedly be cut short and the amount of money that we have lost, and will continue to lose is huge. It’s definitely in the millions.
I don’t think his poor diet was the sole cause of his health problems, but it certainly was a major factor that he had control of but chose not to act on.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that the industrialized medical complex doesn’t exist in a vacuum. It’s a complex system of vulnerability, opportunity, consequences, financial incentives, modern technology, consequences of convenience, and so forth.
It’s not as simple as ‘doctors = perpetrators, sick people = innocent victims’. (Although in some cases, the doctors and nurses really are perpetrators and the sick people really are innocent victims, like in the case of childhood vaccines) And of course the doctors and nurses and hospitalists are often unaware that they are doing the work of a corrupt system. But at this point, anyone who can’t see it is probably choosing to stay ignorant.
Anyway, tearing down the current medical system doesn’t seem like it would help in the long run if individuals aren’t actively taking steps to care for their health. The answer to the corrupt medical system is for the vast majority of people not to need it in the first place.
But, whatever the complex nature is of the place that we find ourselves in, it cannot continue on this way. When over 50 percent of the population is unwell, bad things are going to happen on a societal level.
Finally got around to reading Noam Chomsky's 1993 classic study of Neo-colonialism, Year 501: The Conquest Continues. Recommend that young, radical Chomsky. In his fearful senescence he jumped aboard the Medical Monopoly juggernaut, like so many aging liberals and progressives. Something about medicine pulls the blinders over previously critical faculties, maybe they all have relatives who are doctors. Marion Nestle, a powerful exposer of the nutritional evils of Big Food is being interviewed about her new book, by NPR and PBS. First she expresses her pro-vaccine and fluoride bona fides, before criticizing RFK jr and MAHA for not attacking ultra-processed foods head on.
Brilliant analysis as usual. Now the question is: What do we do about it? Or is it truly hopeless to ever expect a major system change? Given humanity's history of colonialism, I'm not optimistic. It seems the best you can do is protect yourself and your family by avoiding their garbage.
